Terms

TaxCloak is a redaction tool for people who want an AI assistant to look at tax figures without handing over the identifiers on the form. These terms say what you are getting. They are not a contract drafted by a law firm, and they are not tax or legal advice.

Not advice

TaxCloak does not prepare returns, compute tax, or tell you whether a document is safe to share. It catches most common identifiers and misses some. Output can omit an identifier or black out something you wanted to keep. You review every page before you paste it anywhere. If you need advice about a real return, talk to a qualified preparer or the IRS. TaxCloak does not claim HIPAA, SOC 2, or any other certification.

Your documents stay in your hands

You choose the file, the text, and what you copy out. The website is written so that choice does not include uploading the document to a TaxCloak server. Details are on the privacy page. You are responsible for where you paste the redacted text and for where you store the mapping key. The mapping key contains the original values.

Samples

The W-2, 1099, 1040, K-1, and 1098 samples shipped with the site are fictitious. They are for trying the tool. They are not real people and not real filings.

No warranty

TaxCloak is provided as-is, without a warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Automated redaction can miss things. OCR can misread a scan. To the extent the law allows, the authors are not liable for damages from using TaxCloak or from sharing a document that was not fully redacted.
